Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American actor and singer with Irish origin was a well-known persona. The green-eyed beauty , with her flaming red hair was admired by her passionate and fiery roles in various American films. Her beauty and glamour were well-loved. Also, she was known as the 'Queen Of Technicolor' in Hollywood. Her character on screen was a reflection of her strong, courageous spirit, fighting to be recognized and a part of the world of males. She was known as the "tough Irish girl" and would not compromise her reputation or respect to get the roles she was able to get through merit. She stood up for injustices and discrimination against female actors throughout her film career, and gained numerous supporters. The autobiography she wrote, "Tis herself", published in 2004 gave a candid description of her life including her struggles in her climb to success. She was an active woman who wasn't afraid of performing her own stunts. She starred in over 60 films and was a popular international star. After leaving Parra, she remarried again in the year 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier and chief pilot and a pioneer in transatlantic aviation, just to mention some of the accomplishments. O'Hara retired just a few years after their marriage. Her happiness was short-lived as Blair lost her life in a devastating plane crash in the year 1978. The same year, she was diagnosed with having uterine cancer . She had to undergo urgent surgery. She recovered eventually. She was diagnosed with six heart attacks, a short-term memory loss and type 2 diabetes over the next years. O'Hara, at 95 years older, passed away peacefully at Boise (Idaho) on the 24th of October 2015.
