Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Francesca Wright, born 17 February 1991 is an English actress. She is also a model, director, activist and actress. Her most famous role is that of Ginny Weasley as the Harry Potter film series's main character. Born in London, Wright portrayed the character for a decade, until she was cast in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011). Wright was in numerous independent films following the show. The films received mixed reviews. Wright made her stage debut with Peter Ustinov's The Moment of Truth in 2013 at the Southwark Playhouse. In 2012 she graduated from the University of the Arts London with a bachelor's in filmmaking. After that, she established her own production company, BonBonLumiere, and began to produce short films. Her first project in the direction of a director was the coming-of-age-drama Separate We Come, Separate We Go (2012) with David Thewlis, which was released at the Cannes Film Festival to critical applause. She also directed Know Thyself (2016) starring Christian Coulson and Sextant (2016). Both films used landscape and emotion as the themes. Wright's trilogy Phone Calls premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2017. She released Medusa's Ankles (2018) featuring Kerry Fox and Jason Isaacs, based on A. S. Byatt's The Matisse Stories. She has directed music videos for Scarlett Johansson and Pete Yorn. Wright has gained recognition for her environmental activism; she also serves as an ambassador for the charities Greenpeace as well as Lumos.
