Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). At the age of three, she left California and older, her family and her moved to America. Summer was a student at American and British schools, while her family was living in the United States. She returned to Pasadena just prior to her 14th birthday. Summer was obsessed with the idea that she would become an actor from the age of five of her life, took her first acting class at 14. Nine months later, she signed with an agent/manager to begin her full-time job. She is currently working towards her degree at the college level in her spare time. Was among the young celebrities who were featured in the cover of Vanity Fair's story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was named one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. At age 14, Bishil began to take acting classes. In just an entire year, she was given a contract by an agency and manager. Bishil's first performance was in the short-lived Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances on a variety of other children's shows.Bishil's first big break came when she played the lead character in Alan Ball's film Towelhead in 2007 as an adaptation of the novel with the same title. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate, said that Bishil's performance was "the most honest thing" in an film that was, despite the best intentions appeared to be fake and mildly embarrassing. It was like an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles newspaper journalist, stated that Bishil "...is one of the most gifted natural actors of recent times. Gary Goldstein, in a September 12, Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead stated that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) delivers a powerful and captivating performance as Jasira. In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was not made.
